Dr. Mo Segad

Dr. Mo Segad is the Board Chair and CSO at Waffle Forest, an innovative and high-tech organization specialized in smart forests, tree planting, AgTech and land restoration in arid and desert climates in the US and beyond. He also serves as an advisor and high-level expert at the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR), think tank groups, and as an Editor at Frontiers. 

He has held leadership roles in top-ranked universities, US DOE facilities, and corporations across continents. Leveraging his cross-disciplinary expertise as a faculty member, chair, founder, and chief scientist, he has not only developed and commercialized scalable products but has also custom-formulated novel cost-effective nature-based solutions. His next-generation customized products transform poor and barren lands into productive farmlands, enabling climate resilient organic farming, while reducing water/fertilizer usage, increasing crop yields, and improving soil carbon. Additionally, he has provided coaching to start-ups and mentored creative teams, promoting low-emission fertilizers, carbon dioxide capture, and emerging remote sensing technologies to tackle climate crises in agriculture, water, food, and energy sectors.

He is a keynote speaker and a jury lead, invited to speak at several summits, conferences, and global forums. He is also a recipient of prestigious awards and recognitions, including the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) and MAXIV Prizes, among others, in the US, Europe, and Australia. With both an MSc and a PhD degree, he was invited to join Stanford University, published numerous peer-reviewed papers in high-profile journals, and gained extensive experience in generating IPs.
